An abandoned cat’s way of strolling into a home during a storm has melted the hearts of viewers online, with many pointing out in the comments that the feline appeared to decide for herself where she truly belongs.
Shared by Reddit user u/cdizzlebobo on September 23, the clip shows the small cat circling a homeowner’s feet outside before slipping through an open door and making herself comfortable indoors. The post, captioned, “I’ve been wanting to adopt but it looks like she adopted me,” has been upvoted more than 60,000 times and has drawn over 1,300 comments from animal lovers on the platform.
The Reddit user said that the cat had originally belonged to neighbors, who later admitted to abandoning her because of financial difficulties.
“My neighbors abandoned their cat and after many attempts to bring her back to them they finally took her but the next day she was right back outside and left in a storm no less,” the user wrote in the post. “The poor baby was shaking and wet and when she saw me, she immediately came over to me and just walked right into my apartment and has been there since.
“My neighbors admitted to dumping her [because] of financial issues and they gave her to me,” the poster added.
The moment struck a chord with viewers on Reddit, many of whom praised what has come to be known online as the “cat distribution system,” a popular tongue-in-cheek idea suggesting felines often select their humans rather than the other way around.

“I love how she walks in and is like ‘yes this will do nicely,'” one viewer said.
“Congrats on saving this beautiful little girl I hope y’all have many great adventures,” another added.
“Yeah, it’s amazing how confident she is in a new home,” a third viewer shared.
“Walked in like she pays rent. Congratulations,” one comment read. “The Cat Distribution System selected you to be her cat mom. She’s beautiful and knows what she wants. Here’s to happily ever after with your cat!”
