A couple from Chicago have gone viral after revealing how their kitten greets them every time they get back home – and internet users can’t cope with how cute it is.

In a video shared on Instagram on October 9 under the username @tailungkitty, the couple, Zoey and Jimin, unlock their front door to find their gray kitten running towards them, showing how excited he is to see them.

“Who said cats don’t like humans? Every day we come home to this,” the caption reads, “So happy to see us every time.”

23-year-old Zoey told Newsweek that their 4-month-old kitty, called Tai Lung, is a blue British short-hair kitten—he’s named after the snow leopard in the movie Kung Fu Panda because of his silver fur and amber eyes.

“He has a soft coat like a storm cloud, a calm soul, and an incredible love for people! From the moment we brought him home a few months ago we knew he was special and we bonded right away! He is very affectionate towards those around him and loves to be held by myself or anyone else who happens to be around,” she said.

Indeed, the kitty is so easy going and well trained that he even walks on a harness around downtown Chicago for his weekly excursions.

“He will always come running to the door to greet us eagerly without fail. In contrast to his excitable side, he will sleep almost anywhere once he is settled down and loves to snuggle up next to me when he runs out of steam,” she added.

All cat owners love their furbabies more than anything else, but how do we know if they love us back? Newsweek previously highlighted the nine key signs that your feline loves you, including: headbutting to mark you with their scent, kneading like they did with their mother, and purring, which calms both cats and humans.

Chirping is also a friendly call for attention, while gentle nipping and licking mimic grooming rituals. Bringing you gifts, whether toys or prey, shows affection and a desire to share.

Moreover, if your cat exposes their precious belly to you, then you’re truly special to them – in cat language that is the ultimate sign of trust, because it is their most vulnerable area.

Lastly, a tail held up, like Tai Lung’s, and curled signals comfort and fondness, especially when they approach you that way.

The video quickly went viral on the platform, where it had received over 250,000 views and 17,000 likes at the time of writing.

One user, Potat.thescottishfold, commented: “Same! It’s the best way to come home.”

Thestumpybrigade said: “Cats show love when people treat them well.”

Another user, Angelejoliemily wrote: “Best part of my life literally.”
