MANILA, Philippines — Singer Zayn Malik is standing by his previous statement that he's never been truly in love, even during his relationship with his ex-girlfriend and model Gigi Hadid.
Zayn appeared on an episode of Alex Cooper's popular "Call Her Daddy" podcast that aired last February 11, where the host brought up the singer's 2024 comment on another podcast, "I don’t know if I've actually truly been in love at this point."
Alex asked Zayn if he still believed in what he said then and the artist answered in the affirmative, explaining that his understanding of love was always developing.
"At that moment in time, I might have thought it was love, but as I got older, I realized maybe it wasn't," Zayn continued. "Maybe it was lust. Maybe it was this, maybe it was that. I don't feel like it was love."

The singer made it clear that he would always love Gigi, with whom he had a child with in 2020.
"I have the utmost respect for her. I will always love her, but I don't know if I was ever in love with her," Zayn reiterated to end. "I do love her a crazy amount, but no, I don't think I was in love with her at that point."
Zayn and Gigi had an on-and-off relationship that lasted from 2015 to 2021, ending after an incident where Zayn struck Gigi's mother.
Gigi is currently in a relationship with actor Bradley Cooper, meanwhile Zayn is gearing up for the release of his fifth album "Konnakol" this April.
