SHAH ALAM – Proton Holdings Bhd is preparing for its first major model launch of 2025 with a bold new SUV that introduces class-leading features, advanced connectivity and striking design.
Interestingly, it will debut Bahasa Melayu voice recognition, setting a new industry benchmark for localised innovation.
Proton Edar deputy chief executive officer Zhang Qiang said the innovation-led development of the All-New Proton X50 will strengthen the brand’s position while attracting a wide spectrum of buyers, from small families and young professionals to first-time car owners and tech-savvy urban drivers in search of a modern, connected and confident driving experience.
"As the leading SUV model in the Proton range, expectations are high for the All-New Proton X50 to carry the model’s legacy of excellence.

In a statement today, Proton confirmed that the All-New Proton X50 has been previewed to the Malaysian media, ahead of its upcoming public launch, the first major model debut for the company in 2025.
Since its original launch in October 2020, over 134,000 units of the X50 have been sold, making it the best-selling B-segment SUV in Malaysia for five consecutive years.
The latest version introduces an all-new design inside and out, upgraded Level 2 Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) features, an improved infotainment head unit (IHU) with a 14.6-inch display and for the first time, Bahasa Melayu voice command capability.
Offered in three variants, Executive, Premium and Flagship, Proton will host a series of public engagement events in the lead-up to the official launch, showcasing the SUV’s new features and accepting early bookings.
All-new stylish design
The All-New Proton X50 features a refreshed exterior, including a redesigned front grille and bumper, a sportier rear spoiler, quad exhaust tailpipes, a dual-tone paint scheme and newly styled textured alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin has been extensively refined to offer a more premium, driver-focused environment, complete with soft-touch materials, a floating floor console, luxury-inspired column shifters and 72-colour rhythmic ambient lighting.
Colour choices include Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, Armour Silver and a vibrant new Teal Bayou Green.
All-new revolutionary intelligence
At the heart of the new cabin experience is a 14.6-inch infotainment display that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A standout innovation is the integration of Bahasa Melayu voice recognition, stressing Proton’s commitment to localising the user experience.
The updated Proton Link 2.0 app further boosts convenience, offering features such as remote engine and air-conditioning start, real-time vehicle status updates and service appointment scheduling, all via your smartphone.
All-new outstanding safety
Safety remains a top priority with the All-New X50, which comes equipped with an advanced Level 2 ADAS suite.
Enhancements include the addition of a Rear Side Radar System (RSRS), improved Auto Park Assist (APA) and a 360-degree HD camera with an innovative 180-degree undercarriage transparent view. These features, combined with a luxury-inspired column shifter and a five-star Asean NCAP rating, deliver both intelligent support and peace of mind.
All-new powerful performance
Under the bonnet is a cutting-edge 1.5-litre i-GT TD engine, paired with a responsive seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It produces 133 kW and 290 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor.
Alongside this, the model also delivers a 4.7 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency, setting a new performance and economy benchmark for its class.
